Monica Alexis Paz is a survivor, advocate, and changemaker whose life and leadership embody the power of resilience, courage, and hope. As a transgender woman of color, immigrant, and survivor of domestic violence, Monica has transformed lived experience into a lifelong commitment to ensuring that every survivor is seen, heard, valued, and empowered.
For more than two decades, she has worked alongside communities most impacted by violence, poverty, homelessness, HIV, and systemic inequities, building pathways to healing, justice, and opportunity. Her advocacy bridges direct service, public health, and policy, with a steadfast focus on elevating survivor leadership and dismantling barriers that prevent marginalized communities from accessing safety and support.
As an Advisory Board Member for Black Women’s Revolt Against Domestic Violence, Monica brings both professional expertise and the authentic voice of lived experience. She believes that survivors are not defined by what they have endured, but by the extraordinary strength they carry and the transformative change they inspire. Through her leadership, she is committed to advancing racial, gender, and economic justice while creating spaces where Black women, transgender women, LGBTQIA+ communities, and all survivors can heal, lead, and thrive.
Monica’s mission is simple yet profound: to transform pain into purpose, silence into advocacy, and survival into a movement for lasting justice. She continues to stand as a powerful reminder that when survivors lead, communities heal, systems evolve, and futures are forever changed.
